Cahuilla Hills Park is the trailhead park above Highway 74 in Palm Desert, and its courts are the quietest free option in the city precisely because most visitors come for the hiking. Tennis courts here also carry four pickleball lines painted on the surface. The important detail is equipment: nets are not provided for pickleball, so bring a portable net or the lines are decorative. The long dawn-to-11pm window is unusually generous.
