Demuth Park is Palm Springs’ largest city park, a 61-acre recreation hub on the city’s south side. Families, pickleball players, field-sport groups, and active visitors can find courts, diamonds, open space, paths, a community center, and a large playground in one public park.

A 22-Court Pickleball Complex

Demuth Park now holds the largest public pickleball facility in the Coachella Valley. A roughly $5.1 million Measure J project expanded the original 12 courts to 22 dedicated pickleball courts with new lighting, reopening in August 2026. The park’s single tennis court was demolished to make room, so tennis players should head to Ruth Hardy Park instead. During construction the city ran temporary courts on the College of the Desert campus at 1452 East Baristo Road; with Demuth back open, this is again the city’s pickleball address.

Court Hours and Play Rules

Courts are open daily 7am to 10pm. Open play runs 7am to 11am, one-hour reservations are available 11am to 3pm, and after 3pm one court per skill level can be reserved so drop-in players always have somewhere to go. Organized or league play requires a city permit. The project hotline is (760) 846-5477 for current court status.

Beyond pickleball the park carries an indoor basketball court, two indoor pickleball courts, an indoor volleyball facility, multiple softball diamonds, soccer fields and an archery range. This broad mix suits organized recreation as well as casual players looking for a city-park setting with several active-use options.

Space for Families and Movement

Walk and bike the paths, use the fitness facility, picnic, or bring children to the large playground. Its rubberized surfacing, shade canopies, and separate areas for children ages 2-5 and 5-12 make the playground a useful family feature. Rolling green open space and a mountain backdrop give visitors room between activities.

Demuth Park is a free public city park, with community garden plots available for rent and meeting spaces with a kitchen available for community use. A dog park along the CV Link adjoins the park. Dogs must be on leash outside designated off-leash areas, so pet owners should use the appropriate space.
