Lake Cahuilla Veterans Regional Park is a 710-acre Riverside County park at the base of the Santa Rosa Mountains, southeast of Old Town La Quinta. Its 135-acre lake, campsites, lawns, shade trees, and mountain views provide a broad setting for day visits and overnight stays.

Lake Activities and Open Space

Visitors come to fish, picnic, birdwatch, walk or bike the park road, play sand volleyball and bocce, and use nearby equestrian trails. The setting combines expansive irrigated lawns, mulberry shade trees, and gently uneven grassy ground. There are no trails inside the park, and swimming and boating are not allowed in the lake.

Camping With Park Amenities

The park has 96 individual and group campsites, including hookup, water-only, dry, and equestrian sites. Showers, restrooms, a dump station, horse corrals, picnic shelters, and a playground add useful amenities for campers and groups. Camping is by reservation through Riverside County Parks, and reservations may be required, so check ahead before you go.

Prepare for a Desert Day

A day-use fee and separate fishing fee are charged, and fishing requires a valid state fishing license that is not sold at the park. Pets are welcome when leashed and attended. Day-use hours are reduced in the hot months, so check ahead before you go and prepare for the area’s desert heat and wind.
