Palm Springs Art Museum Architecture & Design Center is the museum’s downtown Palm Springs satellite for architecture and design. Also called the Edwards Harris Pavilion, it combines exhibitions, education and community programs, research space, and design archives within a notable midcentury building.

Design With a City View

Architecture and design exhibitions are shown in a glass-and-steel pavilion elevated above street level. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the Palm Springs cityscape and the San Jacinto Mountains, letting the setting become part of the experience. It is a natural stop for visitors interested in how design, desert light, and the built environment meet in one place.

A Landmark Reimagined

The center occupies a midcentury International Style structure designed by E. Stewart Williams as the Santa Fe Federal Savings and Loan. Its rehabilitation restored features including the terrazzo floor and movable anodized aluminum screens, while adding an elevator and desert landscaping. The original bank vault now serves as the museum’s design store, extending the building’s story into the visit.

Plan an Admission Visit

Museum admission covers both the main museum and this architecture and design center, which makes pairing the two sites straightforward. Children under eighteen, active-duty military families, and NARM and ROAM participants receive free admission. Thursday evenings are also free through the City of Palm Springs, giving visitors another supported way to explore the center.
