Things to Do in Palm Springs This Weekend: Oct 16-18, 2026

Fall season is officially here. Mid-October brings the first big Modernism weekend of the year, the Pride Equality Walk on Arenas Road, a food truck night at Sunrise Park and a packed theater calendar. Here is everything worth planning around for Friday, Oct 16 through Sunday, Oct 18, 2026.

Thursday preview (Oct 15)

• VillageFest fills Palm Canyon Drive with makers, food and music from 6 to 10 p.m.
• Free Thursday Night at the Palm Springs Art Museum runs 5 to 8 p.m. Grab dinner at Livs, the museum’s café, which serves late on Thursdays.
• Modernism Week October kicks off its fall preview with home tours and talks through Sunday.
• Aida Cuevas, the queen of mariachi, plays the McCallum Theatre at 7 p.m.

Friday, Oct 16

• Palm Springs Modernism Show & Sale opens at the Convention Center (Friday through Sunday). It is the best place in the desert to shop midcentury furniture, art and design in one room.
• Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is in its final weekend at Palm Canyon Theatre.
• Make a night of it uptown: cocktails at Bar Issi inside the Thompson, or a late drink at Beaton’s at Bar Cecil.

Saturday, Oct 17

• Aerial Tram Road Challenge starts at 6:30 a.m. The 3.7-mile climb up Tramway Road is one of the toughest short races in Southern California. Spectators should arrive early.
• Palm Springs Pride Equality Walk steps off in the Arenas District in the morning. Walk, form a team or donate. Afterward, the patios at Streetbar, Dick’s on Arenas and Blackbook are right there.
• Palm Springs Certified Farmers Market runs 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., now back outdoors at the Cultural Center for the season.
• Wanderlust Food Truck Festival takes over Sunrise Park from 5 to 10 p.m. Entry and parking are free.
• Paradise Pickleball in Palm Desert reopens for the season on Saturday after its summer break.

Sunday, Oct 18

• The Bitchiest Brunch drag brunch at Oscar’s starts at 10 a.m. Reserve ahead; it fills up.
• Prefer a quieter morning? Coffee at Coffeeism Co. (open at 6 a.m.), then an easy palm oasis loop on the Andreas Canyon Trail.
• Last day of the Modernism Show & Sale and Modernism Week October. Browse Market Market or the Shops at 1345 for more vintage finds.
• 10,000 Maniacs close out the weekend at the historic Plaza Theatre at 7 p.m.

• Highs are typically in the upper 80s in mid-October, with cool, comfortable evenings. Start hikes and races early and bring water.
• Downtown parking fills fast on Thursday nights and Saturday mornings. The free downtown parking structures are your best bet.
